The charity wing of hospital “Kashyap memorial eye bank” is well known for its
Eye donation campaign
Kashyap memorial eye bank has to its credit the first eye donation and the first cornea transplantation of combined Bihar Jharkhand. Till now eye bank has done 255 cornea transplantation and received 315 eye donations.
The eye donation campaign is marked by run for vision’ which she organizes every year in the capital of Jharkhand and senior ministers to senior bureaucrats besides common men come on the road to express their solidarity with the her and pledge their eye for donation.
She is the first who started eye donation campaign in Bihar Jharkhand and first corneal transplantation of Bihar Jharkhand was also done by her along with her famous eye surgeon husband Dr. B P Kashyap

Mision for rural Jharkhand

Dr Bharti Kashyap realised the need of undertaking free cataract operation of children to be taken as a campaign when under the aegis of Jharkhand Shiksha Pariyojana, the Eye Bank began eye examination of nearly 10 Lakh school children enrolled in Government run schools in all the 24 districts of Jharkhand.

During 2007 to 2009 and again from 2013 to 2014 especially in the naxal affected villages of Saranda and Saryu Action Plan, Palamu Plan.

From 26th January 2013 to 12th January 2014 three mega eye camps were organized for villages of Sarnda Action Plan, Saryu Action Plan and Palamu Action Plan in a row.

The charitable wing of Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital has teamed up with various organizations like Asha Kiran, ATSEC, State Bank, Standard Chartered Bank to screen thousands of children from the victims of child trafficking to spastics, to children residing deep in the extremist infested areas of Latehar, Singhbhum and Palamu districts of Jharkhand where few have the courage to tread. Cataract is removed from hundreds of eyes of the children through the state of the art Phaco cataract surgery with premium foldable intraocular lenses completely free of cost.

Hundreds of children, who either dropped out from school or did not take admission into any school because of their eye ailments have since rejoined school.

Base Hospital Phaco Cataract Surgery Campaign

At Blind Relief Camps and Mega Eye Camps conducted by Kashyap Memorial Eye Bank, patients are only screened. Later they are brought to Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital, in batches, for surgery.This has revolutionized visual rehabilitation of the poor people andcut down the risk of post-operative infection and other complications to zero level. Has started this in Jharkhand with Jain Mahila Samaj, Hazaribagh (2000-2001).

Social Initiative

When medical fraternity in Jharkhand was finding it difficult to get a Medical protection Act like Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh to practice fearlessly, she paved the path of formulation of a Medical Protection Act in the state. It is expected the Act will come in force in the state soon.
